The 2021–2026 Ford Bronco is one of the most capable off-road platforms to come out of a factory in years. But Ford’s conservative approach to lift height means there’s significant performance left on the table — and a growing aftermarket ready to unlock it. Here’s a complete breakdown of your lift options.
What Comes Stock?
The Bronco’s stock suspension varies by trim. The Sasquatch Package includes 35" tires, a wider track, and a more capable factory setup. Standard trims run 30"–33" tires with less aggressive geometry. If you have a Sasquatch, you’re starting from a better place — but both setups benefit from quality suspension upgrades.
1.5"–2.5" Leveling and Mild Lift
Best for: Owners who want better stance, 35" tires (non-Sasquatch), and improved off-road geometry without major changes.
What’s included: Typically a front spacer or mild coil spring, sometimes a rear block kit. Often no control arm changes required.
Tire fitment: Non-Sasquatch with 2" lift can typically run 35"s. Sasquatch can run 37"s with a 2" lift.
Tradeoffs: Minimal — steering geometry stays close to factory. Great daily driver option.
Brands to consider: BDS Suspension, Carli Suspension
3.5"–4" Lift: The Sweet Spot
Best for: Owners who want 37" tires on a non-Sasquatch, or 37"–38"s on a Sasquatch. Popular for trail builds and overlanding rigs.
What’s included: Front coil springs, rear coil or leaf springs, quality shocks, upper control arms (often required), and all hardware. Reputable kits include everything needed for a complete install.
Tire fitment: 37"–38" with most 4" kits; some trimming may be required at full lock.
Tradeoffs: Requires alignment. Upper control arms are important at this height to correct caster. Highway stability still excellent.
Brands to consider: BDS Suspension 4" systems include UCAs and are a complete bolt-on solution. FOX 2.0 or 2.5 shocks pair perfectly.
6" Lift: Maximum Capability
Best for: Dedicated off-road builds running 37"–40" tires. Rock crawling, serious trail use, or aggressive overland builds.
What’s included: Full suspension replacement — coil springs front and rear, complete shock package, upper control arms, extended sway bar end links, steering components, and often a differential drop.
Tire fitment: 37"–40" depending on the system and wheel offset.
Tradeoffs: Higher center of gravity. Requires alignment, may affect highway handling vs. 4" kits. Driveline angles increase — monitor for vibration. Inspect and likely replace ball joints and steering components with the install.
Brands to consider: BDS 6" systems are fully engineered for the Bronco platform.
Shock Selection: The Most Important Decision After Spring Rate
Your lift kit determines your ride height. Your shocks determine how it feels. At any lift height, upgrading from budget shocks to quality units makes a massive difference:
- FOX 2.0 Performance Series — excellent all-around shock for Bronco builds, good value, available in lift-specific valving
- FOX 2.5 Performance Elite — remote reservoir, adjustable damping; the premium choice for serious Bronco builds
What About the Factory HOSS Suspension?
Broncos with the HOSS (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension) package use factory Fox Live Valve shocks with electronic control. These are excellent stock components — but they limit your lift options. Most aftermarket lift kits require you to switch away from the active HOSS shocks. Check compatibility before purchasing if your Bronco has HOSS.
Build Summary
| Lift | Tires | Best For | Complexity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2" | 35"–37" | Daily/mild trail | Low |
| 4" | 37"–38" | Trail / overland | Medium |
| 6" | 37"–40" | Serious off-road | High |
