Carli Billet High Clearance Extended Control Arms for the 2003-2012 Ram 2500/3500 4x4. Set of 4 (2 upper, 2 lower) machined in-house from solid 6061 billet and clear anodized. Designed to re-center the front axle on 3" lift systems while clearing up to a 37x13.5" tire on a 9" wide wheel with 5.75" backspacing.

Joints use 17-4 stainless ball centers with Carli/Energy Suspension red bushings and zerk fittings for easy servicing, absorbing the lateral axle shift that destroys traditional hat-bushing arms.

From Carli Suspension

The 1994-2012 Ram 2500/3500 utilizes a 5-Link front suspension. Comprising this link system are upper and lower control arms to hold the axle fore/aft while the track bar serves as the lateral link to minimize lateral shift.

When lifting the front end of a straight axle truck, you’re essentially pushing the axle further away from the frame at ride-height. As the travel is not perfectly linear, the new ride height will set the front axle off-center unless the proper linkages are addressed.

The systems we design for these trucks range from 2.5″-3″ of front lift. Three inches of front lift equates to an axle shifted toward the driver’s side ¾” and back toward the cab ½”. Although this is perfectly operable when the factory control arms and track bar are in good condition, we recommend the purchase of an adjustable track bar to shift the axle back toward the passenger side and provide a stronger link with less deflection for the lifted application, and a set of extended control arms to shift the axle forward to its new center of travel.

The construction of these arms starts with a solid chunk of 6061 Billet. We machine these in-house to exacting tolerances providing the most tire clearance of any arm on the market, the most robust construction and the cleanest lines.

Clearance Where it Matters

Being Billet, we have more control over the end-shape than we do with box-steel. We’ve machined the upper arm for additional clearance at the axle mount; it’s not uncommon for the arms to bind the suspension on the mount-brace in longer-travel applications, or during coil installation. There’s no bigger bummer than throwing this jewelry on your truck to correct the geometry, only to top out on them and scratch the arms when installing your springs. We’ve mitigated this interreference as seen below:

The tire clearance in these arms is drastic – clearing a 37×13.5″ tire from the arms with ease! The lower is the largest interference of the two arms; we’ve offset the lower arm tire-pocket slightly beyond the centerline of the joints to maximize the tire clearance, while the upper is relieved slightly as well where the tire is far less intrusive.
