The Sprinter's low-hanging factory differential cover makes loss of gear oil a real concern, whether from a trail obstacle or a careless shop tech using the wrong jack point. The Van Compass rear differential skid plate adds a smooth surface to slide over obstacles and shields the driveshaft U-joint, cast-iron center section, and the thin sheet-metal cover from being peeled back. It bolts on in minutes, and you can still perform gear oil changes without removing it.
